Net Zero Hub

Home » About us » Net Zero Hub

The South West Net Zero Hub provides free strategic and technical support to the public sector and communities to support projects from the earliest stages of feasibility and development, through to investment readiness and delivery.

We are funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero as part of the government’s clean growth strategy, to help the UK to reach its target of net zero emissions by 2050.

Our objectives

An overarching objective that focuses the Hubs to work on supporting GBE delivery, Clean Power 2030 and the Warm Homes Plan which will be published in Autumn 2025 (focusing on buildings decarbonisation and production of renewable energy) as a priority for 25/26.

Objective 1: Attract commercial investment and help LAs apply investment models that accelerate progress to Clean Power 2030 & Net Zero 2050. Increasing the readiness of net zero projects (including renewable energy generation projects) across the region in line with national targets and strategies, including GBE.

Objective 2: Continue to increase the number of, and awareness of, net zero projects and skills (including renewable energy generation projects) across the region in line with national targets and strategies, including supporting early stage development

Objective 3: Support a national knowledge transfer programme to improve information sharing, training, and evaluation, and build networks and partnerships. Support LAs in their engagement with the public on net zero and net zero programmes.

Where we work

Governance

The Hub is overseen by a Board that meets quarterly to monitor Hub delivery, agree strategic priorities, and make decisions on resource allocations.

The Hub Board is made up of representatives from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and each of the unitary authorities.

The Hub is hosted by The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority which acts as the Accountable Body for all Hub programmes.

Net Zero Hubs

Our Hub is one of five local Net Zero Hubs in England. We work collaboratively to accelerate the delivery of local energy projects across the country.
